My FCA Testimonial - By: Steven Alford Jr.

In my 7th grade year at Roland Park Middle School I stayed after school to see a basketball game. My mom came into the school and we found ourselves standing at a table with bibles on it with sports athlete’s pictures and stories. My mom’s eyes lit up and she begin to introduce herself to the guidance counselor Mrs. Fonda. The next thing I know I would be signed up to attend sessions on Thursday afternoons after school going over scriptures with people in my school in the FCA Club. I had no problem with that because I am a Christian and I attend church.

I attended as much as I could with all the other activities I had football, debate, jazz choir, concert choir, Beauty and the Beast play just to name a few. But on January 19, 2011. I would experience something in my new teenage life that I will never forget. My mom picked me up from school at 4:30pm we went to see my grandma by 5:30pm I was holding my grandmother’s hand in the back of the ambulance on the way to the hospital. When we got there I saw people rushing around and after just being there for just 10 minutes or so she was gone from my grips. I watched the death of my Grandma Lorraine right before my eyes.

When I went to school the next day only because I had a science project due, the counselors were so supportive, and God used the FCA Club to help me get through that rough time and for the rest of the school year. Students from my science class mailed me cards and letters. Even though I miss my grandmother I know that she is in the presence of the Lord and that I have a closer relationship with the Lord. FCA was used as a tool to let me know just how much Jesus loves me! You see I had support from family and church family but to have spiritual support in a public school really meant a lot to me; You don’t hear much of that unless FCA is present there. Special thanks to My Counselors of Roland Park Elementary Middle School, Ms Heggins, Mrs. Fonda & Ms Decroix. God Bless!

Shared Testimonial - in a School Huddle, April 10, 2013

We just finished reading Hebrews 12: 1-13 from the FCA God's Game Plan Athlete's Bible and the kids were asked questions as to what the scripture meant to them and a very sweet young lady spoke sharing, "I was having some problems at home and I did not know what to do. I was coming to this meeting and it helped, God said He would not leave us, It was hard at home, I was trying to kill myself, but, of course now, I don't want to anymore."

This was such a blessing to hear this testimony of how the Lord is using His Word to soothe the hurting hearts of young people, even where God is not wanted, in the schools. We, Minister Lee, Coach Lee, Sister Jonie, Sister Jules, Brother Ray and photographer Johnnie Boyette were touched. We cried.
